About Jackson Memorial Hospital

As South Florida's major tertiary hospital, Jackson Memorial cares for the region's sickest and most critically injured patients. Among its many outstanding services are:

The Ryder Trauma Center is the only adult and pediatric Level I trauma center in the region.

The UM/JM Burn Center is one of the nation's largest serving burn patients of all ages.

Jackson's Newborn Special Care Center is Florida's largest Level III intensive care unit serving only the smallest, most fragile babies.

The Transplant Center performs heart, kidney, liver, lung, pancreas and transplants of mutliple organs. The Cardiac Center for adults and children pioneers new treatment techniques with special emphasis on rhythm disturbances.

The Rehabilitation Center is one of only 17 in the nation designated as a Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center.

Amidst all this advanced treatment, Jackson Memorial also holds a strong belief in the rights of its patients. It advocates a detailed Patient's Bill of Rights and Responsibilities. It has a well-developed Advanced Directives Program that recognizes a person's medical card as his or her advanced directive. Once that information is entered in the hospital's computerized tracking system, it follows the patient forever.
